Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG), got acquainted with the progress of commissioning works, and also held a meeting on the activities of the gas chemical complex for the production of polypropylene by KPI Inc. LLP (KPI), a subsidiary of KMG.
In addition to the management of KMG and KPI, SIBUR’s top managers and representatives of the contractor, China National Chemical Engineering Co (CNCEC), also took part in the event. During the meeting, the issues of the company’s current activities, preparation for the start of warranty tests, as well as the progress of the tasks to achieve the design capacity of KPI of 500 thousand tons of polypropylene per year were discussed.
Following the meeting, M.Mirzagaliyev instructed to eliminate the identified comments before starting warranty tests. Special emphasis is placed on the continuous safety of the technological process.
“Today the plant is the flagship of Kazakhstan’s petrochemical industry. Reaching full design capacity will allow the company to fully meet the needs of the domestic market in polypropylene, as well as export serious volumes abroad. Direct deliveries of products to China, EU countries, Russia have already been established, and it is planned to enter the Turkish market in the near future. Therefore, in addition to the technological component, the plant needs to think through a high—quality marketing strategy,” M.Mirzagaliyev stressed.
The meeting participants also discussed cooperation within the framework of the Polyethylene project.
Recall that on November 7, 2022, Samruk-Kazyna JSC, KMG and SIBUR, as well as the participants of the companies operating the petrochemical projects polypropylene and polyethylene signed the main documents on the creation of joint ventures based on KPI Inc. LLP and Sileno LLP (the Polyethylene project).
The implementation of the Polyethylene project will make it possible to produce a wide range of products, including premium high-density polyethylene, which is in stable high demand all over the world. It is planned to build two technological installations that will be combined into a single complex with a total capacity of 1 million 250 thousand tons.
